Who we are

Praxtus is an app for logging meals, workouts, body weight and recipes, with an AI Coach. In this policy, "Praxtus", "we" and "us" mean the app and the developer who operates it, as named on the Praxtus page in the App Store.

This policy explains what information Praxtus collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • We collect what you enter to use Praxtus: your account, your profile and goals, and what you log.
  • Your information is stored by Supabase, our hosting provider, where other users cannot read it.
  • AI features send only what they need to Anthropic, our AI provider, and only with your permission.
  • We do not sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
  • Usage analytics is off unless you turn it on. If you do, we record which features and screens you use — never what you eat, lift or weigh, and nothing from Apple Health — to improve Praxtus and plan our own marketing.
  • You can share a recipe, workout or program with a code. The copy carries the item, never your name or anything you recorded while training, and you can revoke the code at any time.
  • You can delete your account and its data at any time in the app, at Settings → Delete account.

Information you give us

We collect the information you enter into Praxtus:

  • Account: your email address and password. Your password is stored by our sign-in provider in a form we cannot read. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the email address Apple shares with us, which may be a private relay address that forwards to you. We also keep a username, which starts as the part of your email address before the @.
  • Profile: your first and last name, your sex and the basis used for calorie calculations, your date of birth or age, your height, your starting and goal weight, your activity level, your goal, your calorie and macronutrient targets, and your training profile: where you train, the equipment you have, your training goal, and anything you write about what you are aiming for.
  • Body weight: the weigh-ins you log.
  • Food: the meals and drinks you log, with their calories, macronutrients and fiber, and when you logged them.
  • Workouts: the workouts you log, with their exercises, sets, repetitions, weights, durations and distances, and the programs, templates, custom exercises and exercise settings you create.
  • Recipes and notes: the recipes you save, with their ingredients, steps and nutrition, and the notes you write on programs, workouts and exercises. For a recipe imported from a TikTok or Instagram link, we also save the credit to its creator and the web address of its picture. For a recipe imported from YouTube, we save only the link to the video, not its picture or its channel's name. For a recipe imported from a file, we also save that it came from a file and any book or cook the file credits.
  • Sharing by code: when you share a recipe, workout or program, a copy of it and its code, as described under Sharing recipes, workouts and programs.
  • Feedback: anything you send through the Feedback screen, and any AI reply you report, together with the message you sent the Coach just before it, if there was one. Both come with the app version and the kind of device they came from, so we can understand and act on them.
  • Documents: when you attach a file to a Coach message or import recipes from a file, we record the type, size and time of the upload, to apply the monthly limits. The file itself is sent to our AI provider to be read, and Praxtus does not store it. Of the recipes found in a file, only the ones you choose to keep are saved.
  • Account status: whether your account has free, trial or promotional access, and when that changed.
  • Agreements: when you agree to our Terms of Use, as you sign up or sign in or on the screen that asks you to, and when you give your consent for Praxtus to handle your health information, a record of which version you agreed to, when, and where in the app you did it. We keep these records unchanged until you delete your account.
  • Your choices: whether you share usage analytics and when you decided, whether you want product updates by email and when you said so, and, if you answer it at the end of setup, how you heard about Praxtus. Each is optional, and none is needed to use Praxtus.

Apple Health

Praxtus only reads from Apple Health, and only after you allow it in Settings. It never writes to Apple Health.

Workouts: when you choose to import workouts, Praxtus reads the workouts recorded in Apple Health over the last 30 days, each time you import, and saves the type, date, duration and distance of each one to your workout history. With each imported workout it also saves the active calories Apple Health measured for it, that it came from Apple Health, and Apple Health's identifier for the workout. Imported workouts are stored with your account like any workout you log, and they can inform your Coach, as described under "AI features and Anthropic"; their calories and identifiers are never sent to our AI provider. So that a workout is not imported twice, even after reinstalling Praxtus or on another device, Praxtus checks those identifiers in your account, and also keeps the identifiers of the workouts each account has imported on your device.

Steps: Praxtus reads your step count to show it on the Overview screen. It is read on your device and is never uploaded or stored by Praxtus.

Active energy: only if you turn on "Add extra activity to my calories" in Settings, Praxtus reads the active energy Apple Health has recorded for you today, to show your Activity bonus — the calories you burned beyond your usual activity level — and to add it to today's calorie budget. If Apple Health has no active energy for you, your step count is used to estimate it instead. This daily total is read on your device whenever it is needed, held only in memory while Praxtus is open, and never uploaded, stored by Praxtus or sent to our AI provider: your Coach is told your calorie goal without the bonus. The bonus is an estimate, not medical advice.

Information from Apple Health is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared except as this policy describes, to provide the features you use. You can turn off Praxtus's access at any time in the Health app's sharing settings.

Photos, camera and voice

  • Meal and label photos: when you take or choose a photo to log a meal, it is sent to our AI provider to estimate its nutrition. Praxtus does not store the photo.
  • Recipe and exercise photos: photos you add to a recipe or an exercise stay on your device and are not uploaded.
  • Voice: Praxtus has no microphone button of its own. If you dictate with your keyboard's microphone, Apple turns your speech into text under Apple's privacy policy, and Praxtus receives only the text, handled like anything you type.

Information that stays on your device

Some information is kept only on your device and never reaches our servers: the saved history of your Coach conversations, your grocery list, photos you add to recipes and exercises, your step count, and your app preferences such as units, theme, sounds and reminders, including whether the Activity bonus is on. The active energy read for the Activity bonus is not kept at all, on your device or anywhere else. Messages you send the Coach still go to our AI provider when you send them, as described below. Deleting the app removes what is stored only on the device.

How we use your information

We use your information to run Praxtus for you and, only where you choose, to improve it and tell you about it:

  • to keep your account and your logs, and to calculate your targets, totals, progress and achievements;
  • to provide the AI features you use, such as estimating a meal's nutrition, reading a recipe or a document, and answering your Coach questions;
  • to keep Praxtus working and secure, including applying usage limits and preventing abuse;
  • to fix problems and answer the feedback and requests you send us;
  • if you turn on usage analytics, to understand which features are used, so we can improve Praxtus and plan our own marketing, as described under Usage analytics;
  • if you ask for product updates by email, to send them to the email address on your account;
  • if you tell us how you heard about Praxtus, to learn where people find it, for our own marketing.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information or your health information.
  • We do not show ads, and we never give your information to advertisers, ad networks or data brokers. Your health information is never used for advertising or marketing.
  • We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The Praxtus app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking tools from other companies: usage analytics, if you turn it on, is our own and is stored in our own database, as described under Usage analytics. Our website only counts visits in the anonymous way described under Our website.

Usage analytics

Usage analytics is off unless you turn it on. Praxtus asks you once, after you set up your account or when you first open a version of Praxtus that has it, and you can change your answer at any time at Settings → Share usage analytics.

If you turn it on, Praxtus records which features you use and when — such as creating your account, finishing setup, logging a meal, finishing a workout, saving or importing recipes, sharing a recipe, workout or program by code or adding one from a code, sending your Coach a message or unlocking an achievement — and how, for example whether you signed up with email or with Apple, or whether a meal was typed, read from a photo or picked from a recipe. It also records which screens you open, your app version and your phone's operating system. Each record is linked to your account.

It never records what you eat, what you lift, what you weigh or any other measurement, anything from Apple Health, what you write or say to your Coach, or the names or contents of your recipes. An achievement is recorded only by its kind, and never one about weight, food, calories, Apple Health or your Coach, nor one that a weigh-in, a logged meal, your body weight or a workout imported from Apple Health helped you reach.

We use it only to understand how Praxtus is used, to improve it, and to plan our own marketing. It is stored in our own database, hosted by Supabase, and is never sold, never given to advertisers, ad networks or data brokers, and never used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Records wait on your device until they can be sent. Turning usage analytics off stops it at once and discards anything still waiting. Records already sent are kept until you delete them at Settings → Delete my usage data or delete your account; turning usage analytics off does not delete them by itself.

AI features and Anthropic

Praxtus's AI features are provided by Anthropic, which processes requests for us as a service provider using its Claude models. Praxtus asks for your permission before it first sends anything to Anthropic, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings. Without it the AI features do not work, and the rest of Praxtus does.

Requests go through our own server, which passes on only what the feature you are using needs:

  • Logging a meal or a workout by typing or speaking: the words you typed or said. To look up a branded or restaurant food, the AI may run a web search using words from your description.
  • Logging a meal from a photo: the photo, and any name you typed.
  • Creating or editing a recipe: when you ask for its nutrition to be estimated, the recipe as filled in so far; from a link, the caption of the post you shared.
  • Attaching a document to a Coach message: the file and your message.
  • Importing recipes from a file: the file.
  • Chatting with the Coach: your recent messages, and a summary of your training and nutrition so its answers fit you. That summary covers your age in years, your training profile, how many days a week you exercise, preferred units, saved workouts and exercises, recent workouts including ones imported from Apple Health, your best lifts, today's calorie and macronutrient targets and what you have eaten today, your calories over the last 7 days, any workout you are editing with the Coach, and, when you ask from Meals, a meal's page, the screen where you write a meal, or Calories, what is open there: the meals listed and how you have searched or filtered them, the recipe you are viewing or writing, or the meals you have logged today. It is never told your Activity bonus or the active energy behind it. When you write a new meal, the Coach can change that meal for you; you can undo each change, and nothing is saved until you save the meal. When the Coach builds your first plan as you set up your account, it is sent only your setup answers: your training profile, how many days a week you exercise, your age and your preferred units — not your calorie targets, weight or height.
  • Notes from your Coach: after you finish a workout, and once a week, the sets you did compared with last time, or a summary of your week, together with your training profile. You can turn these notes off in Settings.

How Anthropic handles your data

We do not include your name, email address, date of birth, sex, height or body weight in these requests unless you type, say or attach them yourself. Our server does not store the content of your requests.

Anthropic does not use these requests or its answers to train its models. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, information sent through its API is not used for training, and we do not share it with Anthropic for that purpose, for example as feedback. Anthropic deletes it within 30 days. The one exception is a request Anthropic flags as breaking its usage policies, which it may keep for up to 2 years to enforce them, or longer where the law requires. You can read Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

When you share or paste a link to import a recipe, our server reads that post's caption from the site the link points to, such as TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. For TikTok and Instagram it also reads the address of the post's picture, and your device then loads the picture from that site.

For YouTube links we use YouTube API Services to read the video's title and description, and Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy applies to that request. Praxtus keeps only the link to the video, not its picture or its channel's name; each time you view the recipe, your device loads the video's picture from YouTube.

When you open a link to another website from Praxtus, such as an exercise video or a recipe's source, or Praxtus shows a preview of one, your device contacts that website, and that website's own privacy policy applies.

Sharing recipes, workouts and programs

You can share a recipe, a saved workout or a program with another Praxtus user by code. Praxtus makes a copy of the item, stores it with a short code in our database, and gives you the code and a link, praxtus.com/s/ followed by the code, to pass on however you like, for example in Messages. Praxtus does not send the message for you and does not know who you send it to.

Anyone who has the code can see the item's kind, name and size — how many ingredients, exercises or workouts it holds — on praxtus.com, and anyone signed in to Praxtus can add a copy of it to their own account. Nothing in the copy identifies you: it carries the item, not your name, email address, username or account identifier. A shared workout or program carries only its structure — the exercises, how many sets, the repetitions or timed lengths, the rest times and the order, with the workout names and colors — and never the weights, distances, durations or anything else you recorded while training, nor your notes on exercises. A shared recipe carries the recipe as you saved it: its ingredients, steps, nutrition, notes, picture address and the credit to its creator, and, for a recipe imported from YouTube, the link to the video.

Codes cannot be listed or searched; a code works only for someone who has it. A code stays valid until you revoke it at Settings → Codes I've shared or delete your account. Either way the copy stored with the code is deleted; a revoked code itself is kept only so it can never be reused for someone else's item. Praxtus counts how many times a code has been used, and nothing about who used it. A copy someone has already added is theirs, in their own account, and stays there after you revoke the code or delete your account — just as an item you add from someone else's code at Settings → Redeem a code is yours and stays when they revoke theirs.

Share a code only with people you want to have the item; once someone has a copy, Praxtus cannot take it back. If you turn on usage analytics, Praxtus records that you shared or added an item and which kind it was — never the code, the item or who shared it.

Our website

Our website, praxtus.com, is hosted by Vercel Inc. It uses no cookies and shows no ads. We count visits to it with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not identify you and does not follow you to other websites.

When you open a share link, praxtus.com/s/ followed by a code, the page asks our database, hosted by Supabase, what that code points to, so it can show the item's kind, name and size. That request carries the code and, like any web request, your IP address and basic technical information. It is the only request the website makes to anything other than Vercel.

For each page you view, Vercel Web Analytics records the page, the website that sent you there, your approximate location down to the city, and your browser, operating system and kind of device. To tell one visit from another without cookies, it uses a code made from your request, which it discards within 24 hours. We also count a few actions on the website, such as reaching a part of the home page or following a link to the App Store, to Support or to these policies, with nothing that identifies you.

We use these counts only to understand how the website is used and to improve it. How Vercel handles this data is described at https://vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that run Praxtus for us, and only as they need it to do so:

  • Supabase, Inc., which hosts our database, sign-in and servers. Your account and the information you save are stored there. Like any online service, it receives your IP address and basic technical information when the app connects, and may keep them in security logs for a limited period.
  • Anthropic, PBC, which provides the AI features, as described above.
  • Apple, when you use Sign in with Apple or Apple Health, under Apple's own privacy policy.
  • Vercel Inc., which hosts our website and counts visits to it, as described under Our website. Like any web host, it receives your IP address and basic technical information when you visit, and may keep them in logs for a limited period.

Other disclosures

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the safety, rights or property of our users or others. If Praxtus is ever sold or reorganized, your information may be transferred as part of that, and this policy will continue to protect it.

Where your information is stored

Our providers store and process information on servers that may be in other countries, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

Security

Praxtus sends your information over encrypted connections and stores it with access rules that stop other users from reading your records, apart from the copies you choose to share by code, as described under Sharing recipes, workouts and programs. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep your device locked.

How long we keep information

We keep your account and the information you save for as long as you have an account, so it is there when you come back. That includes your feedback, your upload records, the history of your account status, the record of what you agreed to and any usage analytics records, which are deleted with your account. You can also delete usage analytics records on their own at any time, as described under Usage analytics. A copy you shared by code is kept until you revoke the code or delete your account; a copy another user added from your code lives in their account and is kept as long as theirs is.

When you delete your account, it is deleted from our active systems immediately, together with everything stored with it. Copies may remain in our hosting provider's backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten. Anthropic deletes AI requests within 30 days whether or not you delete your account, as described above.

Deleting your account and your other choices

  • Delete your account: go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything stored with it on our servers, and clears Praxtus data from that device. It cannot be undone. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account.
  • Your health information: before you enter any, Praxtus asks for your consent to use it to run the app for you, on a screen of its own with a box you tick, and records when you gave it. You can withdraw it by deleting your account at Settings → Delete account; Praxtus cannot track meals, workouts or weight without it.
  • See and correct your information: almost all of it is shown in the app, and you can edit or delete your entries, your profile and your goals at any time.
  • AI features: you can withdraw your permission for AI features, and turn off notes from your Coach, in Settings.
  • Usage analytics: turn it on or off at Settings → Share usage analytics, and delete what was recorded at Settings → Delete my usage data.
  • Product updates by email: turn them on or off at Settings → Product updates by email. They are off unless you asked for them.
  • Share codes: see and revoke the codes you have shared at Settings → Codes I've shared. Revoking a code stops anyone adding the item from then on; copies already added stay with the people who added them.
  • Apple Health, camera, microphone, photos and notifications: you can change Praxtus's access at any time in iOS Settings or the Health app.
  • Get a copy of your information: go to Settings → Download my data. Praxtus makes one file with your account details, the information stored with your account, and what it keeps only on that device, such as your Coach conversations, grocery list and preferences. Photos you added to recipes and exercises are not included; the file says how many there are. If someone else has signed in to Praxtus on that device, records kept there that do not say which account they belong to, such as weigh-ins and a workout not yet saved, are left out. Praxtus then opens the share sheet so you can save the file to Files, AirDrop it or email it. The file is made on your device and goes only where you send it. You can also ask us for a copy, including of anything the file does not hold, as described under "Contact us".
  • Anything else: contact us as described under "Contact us".

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, to move it to another service, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect what was done before. You can do most of this directly in the app, including getting a copy of your information at Settings → Download my data, and you can contact us for the rest. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

We respond as quickly as we can, and within the time the law requires. We may need to confirm that a request comes from the account holder. If we decline a request, we will explain why, and you can appeal by replying to our decision. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we use your information to provide the service you asked for under our agreement with you. We rely on your consent to handle your health information, to send information to our AI provider, to record usage analytics and to send you product updates by email, and you can withdraw it at any time. Praxtus asks for your consent to handle your health information before you enter any. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping Praxtus secure and in improving it from your feedback.

Consumer health data

This section is our consumer health data privacy policy under laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's consumer health data law. It applies to consumers those laws protect, alongside the rest of this policy. A workout or program you share by code carries no record of what you lifted or did.

The consumer health data we collect: your sex, age or date of birth, height, body weight and goal weight; your calorie and macronutrient targets and activity level; the food you log; the workouts you log or import from Apple Health, with the calories Apple Health measured for an imported one; and any health information you choose to include in Coach messages, notes or attached documents. Your daily step count and today's active energy total are read on your device only, and are not collected.

Where it comes from: from you, when you enter it, and from Apple Health, when you choose to import from it.

Usage analytics, if you turn it on, records only that you did something in Praxtus, what kind of thing it was and when — for example that you finished a workout or logged a meal, and how — never what you ate, lifted, weighed or measured, and nothing from Apple Health. It is collected only with your separate consent, used only to improve Praxtus and to plan our own marketing, and never sold or given to advertisers.

Why we collect and use it: to provide the features you use, such as your targets, your food and workout logs, your progress, and the AI Coach; and, only if you turn usage analytics on, to improve Praxtus and to plan our own marketing from the usage records described above. We collect and share it only as necessary to provide a feature you have asked for, or with your consent, and we will ask for your consent before using it for any new purpose.

Who we share it with: Supabase, Inc., which stores it for us, and Anthropic, PBC, which processes the parts an AI feature needs, only after you give permission. We do not share it with anyone else, and we never sell it.

Your rights: you can ask us to confirm whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data; to give you a copy of it, which you can also get yourself at Settings → Download my data; to give you a list of everyone we have shared it with and how to contact them; and to delete it, which you can also do yourself at Settings → Delete account. You can withdraw your consent to sharing by withdrawing AI permission in Settings; to usage analytics by turning it off at Settings → Share usage analytics, and delete what it recorded at Settings → Delete my usage data; and to all other collection by deleting your account. We respond within 45 days, and you can appeal a decision by replying to it.

Children

Praxtus is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Praxtus asks for your date of birth when you set it up. If it shows you are under 13 and you confirm the date, Praxtus deletes the account and everything entered so far straight away, and signs you out. Nothing you enter during setup is saved before that point.

If you are between 13 and 17, please use Praxtus with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and talk to them before changing how you eat or train. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Praxtus changes. We will change the date at the top, and if a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will let you know before it takes effect, for example in the app, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Contact us

To contact us, use the Feedback screen in the app, at Settings → Help & Feedback, or email support@praxtus.com. We read every message, and we use this channel for privacy questions and requests, including consumer health data requests.
